Hello everyone
After ages of leaving my previous entry on 'sneak peek' mode, we've finally had the time to upload some of the pictures from our wedding. The photos are fairly big so it takes A LONG time to upload them, so we'll be adding more pictures from time to time
Again, many thanks for the wonderful wishes and doa. We really do appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.
Salam,
Zack & Zairul

| Quote: | Assalamualaikum wbt to all viewers,
Pertama sekali, terima kasih to all atas ucapan tahniah atas perkahwinan kami. Even so, berkat doa semua alhamdulillah, semua telah berjalan dgn lancar. Kami telah pon kembali ke Okayama dan kini tgh sibuk dengan persediaan utk berpindah ke apt. baru.
Again, terima kasih for all the wishes and kepada yang hendak melihat gambar2 majlis kami bolehlah ke website Mr.Daniel Zain (which is btw, a superbbbbbbbb photographer!) Unfortunately Mr.Daniel Zain akan berpindah ke San Diego bersama isterinya in June, but kepada sesiapa yang hendak menggunakan khidmat Mr.Daniel Zain, we both highly recommend him. Thank you Daniel and Mariam!
So, sekian buat masa ini. Harap maaf sebab kami tak dapat nak update sebyk and sekerap yang mungkin lately due to kesibukan masing2. We hope everyone would continue to come and visit us once in a while
Thanks you all.
Wassalam,
Mr. & Mrs. Zairul Azmil |

Of Takamatsu and later, some choc & chips
|
|
Last week we went to Takamatsu City in Kagawa Pref. to visit an old friend of Zairul, Kosuke and his wife Michiko. It was my first time in Takamatsu and the city was, frankly speaking, I thought to be really nice and developed, despite Kosuke's endless arguments of how Okayama is wayyyyyy better than Takamatsu. Nevetheless, it was a beautiful city and it was also a rather windy day the day we were there. Our first pit stop was one of the local restaurant inside the station and we grabbed ourselves some breakfast there.

Inside and outside the station
Later we headed to Ritsurin Park, which was two stops after Takamatsu Station. The park was absolutely beautiful, regardless of the almost-balding trees,we could only wish we had been there earlier. The park had lots of cool places to take pictures of, but being the amateur-in-scenery photography, I only managed to take a few, what I consider, GOOD SHOTS out of the hundreds of shots I took that day
We later went by some of the lakes and ponds they have in the park and I can say, there could've easily been probably thousands of koi carp fish swimming in those lakes. They were so HUGE that for a minute they didn't look anything like a fish Visitors can feed them bread at 80yen a piece. Which I later concluded as the reason why they were so big and fat Yes people, carbohydrates not only make people fat, fish too

After a 3-hour stroll in the park, we were later picked up by Kosuke in his new Prius Hybrid (woot ) and I was, for the first time introduced to his wife, Michiko. They later took us to one of the famous udon restaurant in the city and we were treated with a very nice bowl of Kagawa's Udon. Michiko told me that the people in Kagawa eat udon at least once a day,and sometimes for breakfast! And dining out on weekends also meant Udon. Udon, Udon, Udon.

The weather was starting to cloud over us when we finished out late lunch and we all decided to go to an Yashima Aquarium which to my astonishment, located on top of a HILL! It's probably the highest aquarium I've ever been to. But because it was already starting to get dark by the time we reached there, and all the shows had ended (plus it was just a teeny aquarium ) so we decided to go back and hang out at Kosuke's apartment.
I saw the wedding video and looked at photos of their wedding and Kosuke showed me some very amusing pictures of Zairul and Kosuke when he came and visited Malaysia. Then it was time to go back home and they sent us off to the station. Since we had some time before the train leaves for Okayama, we went up Sun Port Building which is next to the train station and looked at the night view of Takamatsu at night. It was indeed, beautiful.
Eventhough it was just a day trip, but I had fun. Taking the train was the right thing to do and it only costs 1470yen from Okayama (for one way) and taking a car would've cost even more.
Thanks to Kosuke and Michiko for the trips around Takamatsu and we sure are going to go there again
------------------------------------------------------------
Later on this week, I made a wonderful dessert from, again, Allrecipes.com called Chocolate Cake with Liquid Centers @ Lava Cake.
It was really good, and it did melt in mouth, just as described in the recipe. My advise is to eat it while it's still warm with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Or you can leave it in the fridge and it'll taste even better the next day
Give it a try!
And then I made some chips, and what's amazing about it, is that I didn't fry them, but instead I microwaved 'em. And it turned out super crispy and super yummy! I was skeptical at first, but when I tried it, it turned out to be just like those natural potato chips you get in grocery stores. Trust me, it works!
How to make:
1. Clean potatoes (you can peel off the skin if you want, I left mine on) and slice it into thin slices.
2. Lightly coat with olive oil or any kind of oil with a dash of salt and pepper.
3. Spread them over your microwave ceramic plate in a single layer and cook 'em in the microwave at HIGH for about 4-5minutes.
Thanks to Lydia from My Kitchen, for sharing us the tip on how to make healthy chips minus the oil and calories. And trust me,it taste gooooooooodddd!
So that's it for now. Gotta run. I have a Christmas project to do- Gingerbread House! (It's for Berlitz's Christmas Party this weekend) Will upload pictures of it later Have a good day everyone!

Gooey Chewy Yummy
|
|
It was a fine autumn day and I finished early from part time. The weather was great; blue, clear skies and lovely dried leaves floating across the pavements. It was a good day to take some pictures.
Eki-mae (In front of Okayama Station, near Bic Camera)
Near Asahi River
And then I treated myself with a nice bowl of Tempura Udon. The restaurant had just opened recently and there I was, immersed in a simple bowl of udon with no looking back
Take a look at those Shrimp Tempura!!
Kanshoku! (Licin )
A day before.
I made some brownies, after reading a thread at Forum.Cari.com. The owner of the recipe, K.Mas created her own version of an absolutely chewy, gooey and yummy brownies and I just couldn't say no to it and ran straight to the kitchen
It turned out as described, chewy gooey and yummy! Here's the recipe fellas:
Ingredients:
250g butter, cubed
400g chocolate
6 eggs
340g brown sugar
2tsp esen vanilla
20g chocolate emulco** (I think can be left out if you don't have any)
80g flour
60g cocoa powder
140g nuts (almond, walnuts etc)
How to make:
1. Preheat oven to 160deg and lined a baking tray with baking sheet
2. Melt the butter and chocolate in a microwave (stir occasionally) or using double-boiler method. Set aside.
3. Mix together egg, sugar, chocolate emulco and vanilla essence until sugar had dissolved.
4. Mix the two mixture (egg mixture + chocolate mixture) and stir until just combined.
5. Sift flour and cocoa powder and add to wet mixture. Stir until just combined.
6. Pour in baking tray and bake for about 1 hour.
7. Let the brownies completely cooled before cutting. Better yet, leave it overnight and then cut it into cubes.
I added sliced almonds, made only half of the recipe and made some into small mini brownies using a mini cupcake tray.
Something yummy for the tummy in the weekend
Thank you K.Mas for the recipe. Will be in my favourite list from now on

Of 'sejuk' days - continued
|
|
Yes. Another cold day in November.
This year is passing by rather quickly. I was browsing through my old entries and realized I've only been posting a few, compared to the previous year. This year has been mighty busy for me, thus not permitting me to update often. But nevertheless I still get very loyal visitors coming to my page, in hope to get to see what I've been up to in my kitchen lately And I'm so flattered knowing the fact that many out there have been linking this mundane fotopage of mine to their blogs and fps.
Well, to those people, I present you 2 new recipes that I tested last week. One is yet another recipe taken from Allrecipes.com, a simple chocolate chip banana muffins which are made from the simplest ingredients.
Recipe courtesy of Allrecipes.com - Chocolate chip banana muffins
I made them into mini muffins instead of regular sized ones because I ran out of paper cups and only had small ones. From the batter I managed to get around 26 mini muffins.
What I like about this recipe is how it uses yogurt in it. Yes, YOGURT! I know how people put milk or buttermilk sometimes, but I've never thought that adding yogurt could give such a wonderful texture to the muffins. Really, they were so soft and moist that I know I'm gonna be making muffins this way from now on!
You should give it a try!
My chocolate chip banana muffins
I made these once last Saturday when my friends and I (finally) went to Kyoto. It was a short yet great trip. Lotsa people though, and even don't let me start to describe just how bad the traffic jam
We took some pictures ( which will be uploaded soon ) of the red maple leaves. It was a lot of fun
My next recipe is a very common fried food here in Japan; croquettes. And today I made a beef version of it. Very easy to make and taste really2 yummy, especially eaten pipping hot!
Beef croquettes
Ingredients:
300g minced beef
5 potatoes, peeled and boiled until soft
1 large(green) onion, minced
salt & pepper
a dash of nutmeg
cheese **optional
2 tbsp milk
2 tbsp heavy cream **optional
2 tbsp butter to fry onion
2 tbsp butter to mix with mashed potatoes
coating:
flour
egg
breadcrumbs
How to make:
1. Cut potatoes and boil until soft. Drain and mash while still hot and add in some salt and pepper and 2 tbsp of butter. Add in milk and cream and mix well.
2. Fry minced onions with butter until fragrant and add in minced beef. Stir fry until beef is cooked. Add salt, pepper and nutmeg. ( Here you can add other spices of your liking and make it into different flavors. e.g: curry powder, all spice, oregano etc)
3. Mix together fried onion+beef with mashed potatoes. Make them into small patties ( like making hamburgers ) I add some cube cheese in the middle, which is totally optional if you don't have any
4. Coat the patties with flour, followed by beaten egg and bread crumbs. Deep fry in oil until golden brown. Serve hot with chillie sauce or tartar sauce.
These croquettes can be made into different versions. You can use minced chicken instead of beef, you can add mix veggies, or cheese or simply make it plain (which in that case you should up the cream/milk by 1 or 2 tbsp)
They go well just like that, or with buns or even with rice. You can be super creative and make tomato sauce, or cream sauce or bbq sauce to drizzle over them (wow, meliur air leleh just imagining it )
Be creative and have fun with the recipe!
So that's it for today. Need to go and cook dinner pulak. Tgh fikir nak masak apa ni Kadang2 blur jugak nak masak apa bila dah dok masak tiap2 hari
Have a good day everyone!
