Cream Stew and Homemade Dorayaki

This my first attempt for both recipes. Both were not that difficult to make, nor were they easy..You need to put aside some time for the prep for each recipes but the outcome is really worth the time and effort.

For the 1st recipe, which is the Cream is the recipe:

Salmon fillet, cut into small portions
salt & pepper to season
2 tbsp flour
2 tbsp butter
1/2 green onion, thinly sliced
200ml light/ heavy cream
200ml milk
dry oregano
salt, sugar & pepper to taste

How to make:

1. Cut all veggies accordingly ( not too big, not too small ) and rinse well.
2. Rub together salt, pepper and flour with the cut out salmon fillet in a bowl
3. On medium heat, put in butter into pot and add in the salmon. Add in the sliced onions and remaining flour in the bowl. Fry until slightly fragrant or until onions begin to look translucent.
4. Pour in cream and milk along with washed veggies. Stir well and cover pot. Simmer for about 20-30 minutes.
5. Lastly, add in salt, pepper, sugar and dry oregano leaves. Serve with warm bread.

Yummy cream stew

As for the dorayaki, I believe everybody knows what it is..especially if you're a Japanese food freak or maybe just a fan of Doraemon I always thought that it would take time to make these dorayakis but it didn't! So here you go, the recipe:

Azuki Filling:
100 g red beans/azuki
400 ml water
80 g sugar
1 tsp salt

100 g flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
50 g sugar
1 tbsp honey
2 eggs
80 ml water

How to make:
PREP -: Soak red beans in 400ml water overnight.
1. In a deep pot, boil soaked red beans. Scoop out the bubbles that will start to form on the surface of the water. This is to avoid the red beans from going bad fast.
2. When the water has reduced to almost the same height as the beans, reduce the heat and add in sugar and salt, gradually.
3. Using small heat, cook red beans until they're soft and mash them a little bit to make it easier to spread on top of the pancake later on. Leave to cool.
4. In a bowl, whisk 2 eggs & sugar until they start to fluff a little bit. Then add in the honey. Stir well.
5. Sift in flour & baking powder into the bowl and carefully mix and avoid any lumps from forming. Add in water. ( using a whisk helps a lot! ) On a slightly heated non-stick pan, pour in 1 1/2 tbsp of the pancake mix. You can use as much as u want. Bigger dorayaki will need more than 1 tbsp of mixture. Remember that the skin of these pancake browns easily so no need to use too much heat. Turn over the dorayaki once it is brown and give the other side of the dorayaki to brown just a little.
6. Spread the azuki filling and sandwich them together to form a Dorayaki. Voila!

So there you go folks, 2 favourite Japanese dish that are loved by lots of people. Give it a try and I'm sure you'll love it too

Gotta go to work! Later!

I hope my collection of Doraemon's comic books are still safe at home..I miss reading 'em

We went to Tsuyama, North of Okayama for our autumn sightseeing ( in japanese-> kouyou ) yesterday. Had fun though there was only 1 big tree that was autumn-y enough. It was freezing cold because we went all the way up the hill ( or is it mountain? ) My hands were shaking pretty bad so some of the pictures I took were blurry. Nevertheless it was a great day for those who went. Otsukaresama!

Faces and People in USJ

Yup, don't be fooled, this is NOT THE REAL Doc Brown from Back To the Future ( duhh ) He's just one of the street acts you can see in USJ. But he does resemble that guy who played Doc Brown in Back to the Future, doesn't he?

Anyways, we were there, standing watching him about to start his act when suddenly he pulled me onto the pavement and asked me to help him with his act!

aduhaiii..terkezoott den masa tu..ingat pakcik ni dah naik angin ape.. )

Clueless me

Anyways, he also asked a few other ppl from the audience to join me, so I was kinda relieved . It was a short act, but he was fun. Sasuga entertainer!

Here is a picture of a live band from the Land of Oz. They were really good, but too bad none of the japs could understand the jokes they were making

Another street act, by Hello Kitty and her bf(??) and some humans as well They were singing a Happy Birthday song and dancing about on the street.

I wonder how the ppl under those costume could stand the it's dangg hot inside those big heads and shoes
