Gooey Chewy Yummy

It was a fine autumn day and I finished early from part time. The weather was great; blue, clear skies and lovely dried leaves floating across the pavements. It was a good day to take some pictures.

And then I treated myself with a nice bowl of Tempura Udon. The restaurant had just opened recently and there I was, immersed in a simple bowl of udon with no looking back

Kanshoku! (Licin )

A day before.

I made some brownies, after reading a thread at The owner of the recipe, K.Mas created her own version of an absolutely chewy,gooey and yummy brownies and I just couldn't say no to it and ran straight to the kitchen

It turned out as described, chewy gooey and yummy! Here's the recipe fellas:

250g butter, cubed
400g chocolate

6 eggs
340g brown sugar
2tsp esen vanilla
20g chocolate emulco** (I think can be left out if you don't have any)

80g flour
60g cocoa powder
140g nuts (almond, walnuts etc)

How to make:

1. Preheat oven to 160deg and lined a baking tray with baking sheet
2. Melt the butter and chocolate in a microwave (stir occasionally) or using double-boiler method. Set aside.
3. Mix together egg,sugar, chocolate emulco and vanilla essence until sugar had dissolved.
4. Mix the two mixture (egg mixture + chocolate mixture) and stir until just combined.
5. Sift flour and cocoa powder and add to wet mixture. Stir until just combined.
6. Pour in baking tray and bake for about 1 hour.
7. Let the brownies completely cooled before cutting. Better yet, leave it overnight and then cut it into cubes.

I added sliced almonds, made only half of the recipe and made some into small mini brownies using a mini cupcake tray.

Of 'sejuk' days - continued

Yes. Another cold day in November.

This year is passing by rather quickly. I was browsing through my old entries and realized I've only been posting a few, compared to the previous year. This year has been mighty busy for me, thus not permitting me to update often. But nevertheless I still get very loyal visitors coming to my page, in hope to get to see what I've been up to in my kitchen lately And I'm so flattered knowing the fact that many out there have been linking this mundane fotopage of mine to their blogs and fps.

Well, to those people, I present you 2 new recipes that I tested last week. One is yet another recipe taken from, a simple chocolate chip banana muffins which are made from the simplest ingredients.

I made them into mini muffins instead of regular sized ones because I ran out of paper cups and only had small ones. From the batter I managed to get around 26 mini muffins.

What I like about this recipe is how it uses yogurt in it. Yes, YOGURT! I know how people put milk or buttermilk sometimes, but I've never thought that adding yogurt could give such a wonderful texture to the muffins. Really, they were so soft and moist that I know I'm gonna be making muffins this way from now on!

You should give it a try!

My chocolate chip banana muffins

I made these once last Saturday when my friends and I (finally) went to Kyoto. It was a short yet great trip. Lotsa people though, and even don't let me start to describe just how bad the traffic jam

We took some pictures ( which will be uploaded soon ) of the red maple leaves. It was a lot of fun

My next recipe is a very common fried food here in Japan; croquettes. And today I made a beef version of it. Very easy to make and taste really2 yummy, especially eaten pipping hot!

Beef croquettes

300g minced beef
5 potatoes, peeled and boiled until soft
1 large(green) onion, minced
salt & pepper
a dash of nutmeg
cheese **optional
2 tbsp milk
2 tbsp heavy cream **optional
2 tbsp butter to fry onion
2 tbsp butter to mix with mashed potatoes


How to make:

1. Cut potatoes and boil until soft. Drain and mash while still hot and add in some salt and pepper and 2 tbsp of butter. Add in milk and cream and mix well.
2. Fry minced onions with butter until fragrant and add in minced beef. Stir fry until beef is cooked. Add salt, pepper and nutmeg. ( Here you can add other spices of your liking and make it into different flavors. e.g: curry powder, all spice, oregano etc)
3. Mix together fried onion+beef with mashed potatoes. Make them into small patties ( like making hamburgers ) I add some cube cheese in the middle, which is totally optional if you don't have any
4. Coat the patties with flour, followed by beaten egg and bread crumbs. Deep fry in oil until golden brown. Serve hot with chillie sauce or tartar sauce.

These croquettes can be made into different versions. You can use minced chicken instead of beef, you can add mix veggies, or cheese or simply make it plain (which in that case you should up the cream/milk by 1 or 2 tbsp)

They go well just like that, or with buns or even with rice. You can be super creative and make tomato sauce, or cream sauce or bbq sauce to drizzle over them (wow, meliur air leleh just imagining it )

Be creative and have fun with the recipe!

A chilly day in November. Winter is getting closer. Or perhaps it's already here.

Well, at least I have my wardrobe prepared

A piece of cheesecake..

and some milk pudding for the evening hunger pangs


500 ml milk
15g kanten powder ( or agar-agar powder )
8 tbsp sugar ( or more if you like it sweeter )
vanilla beans or a few drops of vanilla essence
**optional: some cut fruits

How to make it:

1. Heat milk in pot. Add in sugar, kanten powder and vanilla. Stir well.
2. Pour in a tuppaware or baking tin and chill. Cut into smaller bits.

Assalamualaikum wbt Everyone

Zack & Zairul harap semua org sihat. Zack nak apologize for not updating for SO LONG. Balik Malaysia, busy manjang, balik sini pon terus start sekolah, puasa and raya pon berlalu macam tu saje. Sampaikan Zack and Zairul tak sempat nak wish semua Selamat Hari Raya and all ( and Raya pun dah habis )

So, to those yang tak jemu2 datang melawat fp kitorg, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
And maaf seribu maaf Zack tak sempat nak membalas komen2 yang diberikan. Only God knows how grateful I am to have people who still look forward to seeing the pictures that I post. Again, deep down, thank you all!

I'll try my best to update selalu, though Zack tak boleh nak janji. I need to set my priorities straight, so school has to come first Zack harap semua boleh faham. But do come and visit, and I'll try my best to reply all the lovely comments you guys have given to me.
