July July July..

Yes's JULY! actually tade la ape benda yg special sgt about July ( except for my sister's bday at the end of the month ) I was just telling myself that half of 2006 has gone by.


Lately I've been counting the days to many things; habis exam, balik msia, makan durian ( yes..i'm a durian lover ) and stuff..and I realized that eventhough people say that the more you count the days, the slower it'll pass you me, it couldn't be any faster! I guess I am too preoccupied with so many things lately, that eventhough I was counting the days, it was long gone before I could realize it

So, today I made Kari Laksafor lunch. Got the recipe from was very easy to make, though the taste wasn't really what I was hoping for ( I just LOVE the kari laksa they sell kat Midvalley punye foodcourt tu..OMG<< sedap giler!! ) And dalam hati I was hoping that the recipe would somehow come to my expectations..though it didn't, the taste wasn't bad at all..maybe rasa dekat mcm mee kari kot.. *hampa* Takpela, I'll be on the look out for a better 'kari laksa' recipe. In the mean time, here's the recipe:


600 gm yellow mee
100 gm beansprouts ( taugeh )
100 gm tingen ( sawi )
5 tauhu pop ( I don't really know what it's called in English )
80 gm fish cake ( sliced )
100ml thick coconut milk
200 ml coconut milk
200 gm prawns
300 gm chicken breast, cut into small pieces
80 gm chicken curry powder
2 sticks lemon grass ( serai -pounded )
5 cardammoms ( buah pelaga )
400 ml chicken broth
3 tbsp sugar ( I used 1 tbsp only )
2 tbsp oil

to blend
10 dry chilli ( soaked in hot water, pitted )
10 shallots
6 cloves garlic
2 cm ginger

How to make:

1. Heat the oil and stir-fry the blended ingredients until fragrant. Add in the curry powder, lemon grass, cardammom and saute until oil truns reddish ( pecah minyak )
2. Add in the chicken stock and the coconut milk ( not the thick one ) Let simmer for 2-3 mins.
3. Then add in the chicken, prawns, fishcakes, tauhu pop and the thick coconut milk. Let simmer for 5++mins.
4. Blanch the mee, beansprouts and tingen ( sawi ) in hot water. Place in bowl. Pour curry on top of the mee. Garnish with fried onions.

** I had to kopek the udang because malas nak kopek masa makan..and I added the prawn skin to the chicken stock to give it a bit of a prawn-ish taste**

Ate the mee with air sirap sejuk..and yes, I felt at home..
