Yes people, you guessed it. Today's theme: BANANA!
Well, not really what I would call a theme, but today's recipe will be about that la kan
Before I proceed to my banana nana po pana recipe, do all of you realize that it's going to be August in 7 days?? Yeah, I've been counting the days alrite
And the rainy season ( tsuyu ) is still not over.. dok ujan je hari2. Tapi org kata hujan tu berkat & rahmat.. so, kita suma patut la bersyukur ngan hujan yg turun At least tak panas meliau..kurengla sket sunburn nyer ( see...kan rahmat tu namanye )

Here is what I baked a few days back. Teringat kek pisang I used to eat kat kantin skolah dulu.. dia jual in slices and Oh My God, sedapnyerr kek pisang time tu. I've baked my own kek pisang a couple of times, but nothing beats the recipe I found kat Allrecipes.com ni. I mean, it was REALLY good! - to me la kan
A-Number-1 Banana Cake
Here's the recipe, people!
310 g all-purpose flour
10 g baking soda
1 g salt
115 g unsalted butter ( I used margarine sbb butter pinishhh )
120 g white sugar
80 g light brown sugar
4 ripe bananas, mashed
160 ml buttermilk ( 155ml milk + 5ml vinegar/lemon juice )
*60 g chopped walnuts ( I didn't add in any nuts sbb I like my banana cake to be plain )
How to make:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 - 8 inch round pans. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, soda and salt; set aside.
2. In a large bowl, cream butter, white sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Mix in the bananas. Add flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk to the creamed mixture. Stir in chopped walnuts. Pour batter into the prepared pans.
3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove from oven, and place on a damp tea towel to cool. After the cake has cooled off a little bit, I wrapped the cake in cling wrap and left it overnight.
** I frosted the cake with chocolate ganache - an idea I got from one of the reviewers. Yum Yum! You can't go wrong when it comes to banana + chocolate
** I prefer to chill the cake two times before serving; one is before you frost the cake approx. 20-30minutes.. the second time is after you've frosted the cake approx 15 minutes ( just to let the frosting set a little bit. You don't want runny frostings on the cake, do ya! )
** I altered the recipe a bit; lessen the sugar and soda bicarbonate. I don't really like that soda-ish aftertaste )
